Affordable, rigorous, knowledge - based…
Tynedale Christian School is a new school, which aims to open its doors to the first pupils in September 2008. TCS is a collegiate foundation of Grindon Hall in Sunderland, a successful school of 350 girls and boys between the ages of three and eighteen years.
In common with many Independent Schools, Tynedale Christian School is developing its own special curriculum, with an emphasis on rigour and knowledge. Spelling tests, multiplication tables, historical dates will be very much part of what we teach at TCS. On the other hand 'dumbing down', the notion that there are no right or wrong answers and the sacrifice of teaching and learning in favour of fashionable causes, will have no place at Tynedale Christian School.
In the initial year, the school plans to cater for children in years five and six. Thereafter, the plan is to grow the school upwards at the rate of one academic year every twelve months until we have a group of Year Eleven children preparing for GCSE examinations.
TCS plans to occupy converted agricultural buildings at Vallum Farm. Vallum is a working farm situated at East Wallhouses on the Military Road (B6318) near Corbridge. It has diversified in recent years and now hosts a variety of businesses, including a popular tea room specialising in locally produced foods. Vallum is an unusual, stimulating and attractive environment in which to learn and develop.
